Thread regarding Belk layoffs

How many stores are downsizing management?

The store I’m in, along with several others in our region have been informed that we’re “over staffed” with salaried managers.

The managers in question were originally told that no reductions would be happening except via promotion or attrition. Well, guess what, Belk has proven themselves to be lying liars once again. Imagine that.

As of now, those managers are being transferred, demoted to hourly (where available) or terminated.

The stores are already woefully understaffed and struggling. They can’t find, hire or retain good help.... Yet Belk does this to the management people that are operating the stores and keeping the executive’s checks flowing in. Makes perfect sense 🙄🙄🙄

I’m sure there is some store-level dead weight but the management people who need to go are the ones at corporate who continue making the same bad decisions that drove the place into bankruptcy in the first place. Yeah, Lisa and Don, I’m looking at you 👁👁

Following the lead of Macys, Kohls and many others....
Nothing new either. Tried consolidating store mgt positions back in the Belk brother days too.

There hasn't been downsizing of managers yet, but they've definetly turned up the thermostat, and customers have complained.

Wow this absolutely mind blowing. Remember during bankruptcy when they said no layoff would occur? Well they lied. As soon as the new MATRIX was released, many STMS were quietly removed. Now we are in May, and they’re doing this?! When summer is approaching. Wow. Hello chapter 7 in September
