Write ups over Credit/Email

Is anyone else's store writing people up over not making credit or email capture goals? My store just started doing this a few weeks ago and we'd never done this before. Just curious if this is a company wide thing or if my store is just crazy.

The problem is if there is a policy then a company can write you up for failing to abide by that policy. I worked for A.C. Moore Craft Stores as a S.M. and we would use that strategy of providing 'corrections' to low performing individuals with the intent of either driving them out and hiring someone hungry in their place or actually effecting a change in the individual. Either way, as a manager, I was evaluated on the whole store performance and you would be surprised how just one or two can drag down a whole store. The saying 'steel sharpens steel' is spot on and surrounding yourself with top performers will challenge everyone else to do better.

Not all managers get bonuses. They have them classified differently. I was an STM then an MTM but in the smaller stores for more than ten years. Only the SM qualified for bonus. MTMs in large stores that had Assistant Manager attached to the MTM title could also qualify for bonus.
I’ll just say this:
If any manager out there other than a SM from a store under 13 million in sales ever got a bonus out there, I need to know the store # because that means the managers of the stores I worked in got cheated. And believe me, there were years based on sales and profit, we would have qualified.
But it wouldn’t surprise me. Glad I decided to leave....

I’m a MTM. I’m just as tired of Belk, as some of y’all. Yes, write ups for email and credit exist. They have been happening in my store for 3 years now. Yes, it is a way to get some associates out of stores, but mostly want “I” want is to change the behavior of skipping and not asking. No STMS, MTM, or OMNI get bonuses if store meets any type of goal. Most likely the store managers do, but I doubt they have in the past two years.

I’m not sure about the comment that said maybe if management got out on floor? But in my store I’m working 47+ hours a week, and if I’m not on the floor putting out or moving stock, I’m in dock unloading a truck. My store has no hours so we have to everything.

Associates should document any and all conversations, incidents.
Surely they cannot check all email for each associate, besides card customers already have their email in, and some of the elderly dont have emails. If the managers have that much time on their hands, they need to get on the floor, do recovery, or work a register, because customers aren't happy with only three registers open.

Our store has been doing this.
They dont really care about customers or customer service.
They want emails to sell to a third party, and Elite Belk card charges 29% interest, which they profit from, and also the managers get bonuses.
