Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Is there a way at all to keep a job here?

The work I do here is not at all safe and I am very afraid of losing it. Colleagues who were laid off earlier were hard workers and I know for sure that it is just a matter of luck that they were on the layoff list and not me. I care about keeping this job and subconsciously I work harder than ever even though I realize that all that is not very important when it comes to layoffs.

Ask yourself if you really want to be associated with the dishonest, shady, sexist, rip off type of business though. Do you really want to continue ruining your own reputation by staying? If you have any ethics and pride you should be looking for a way out.

In a company where the only 2 (incompetent) completions engineering advisors are a demoted manager and the son in law of an influential board member, what kind of “safety” do you think you have?

Sucking @$$ usually deters the layoff. Why I’m not there any more.

  1. How close to the well head is your job?
  2. Are you under paid compared to your peers?
  3. Did you meet expectations on your review?
  4. Have you had zero safety incidents?
  5. Do your coworkers and boss like you?

If you can answer yes to all these questions and your position directly effects production, you are pretty safe unless the asset you work for itself gets sold. Answer no to any of these and consider yourself gone next layoff.
