So I am curious to see how busy it is for other stores after 7. For our store which is a smaller store from 6:30-9 we may see 1 or 2 customers and this is Monday- Saturday. I know there is a Mall store that is open until 9 but the mall and all other stores close at 7. This is a waste of $$. Even fulfillment is not busy.

Just closed tonight with only 4 people including one manager. After 7 it's a complete waste for the store to be open.
My store actually had about several Brahmin bags get stolen about 2 months ago literally 5 minutes before close because we were dead and closing with only 3 people.
They have no drill, or instructions, on what we would do, if the worst case senario of robbery occurred, when theres only 3 associates closing the store.
this is exactly what happened in my freestanding store. One associates has already been attack this year and that was at 630 in the morning !
Yes, it is dangerous to only have 3-4 associates working until 9:15.
Some managers permit customers to come in 5 minutes before closing.
How convenient for observation, associates counting registers, turning in money bags.
Also our jewelry department was moved to the middle front of the store.
What id--t directed this idea?
How convenient if someone decided to rib, or smash and grab.
You're not kidding about the danger. I had been saying that for a few years and now it's just beyond comprehend. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it anymore. SO GLAD i got out of that place.
My store slows down quite a bit around 4. Then after 5:30-6 we're pretty much dead the rest of the night. Same with Sundays, we're usually dead the last hour that we're open. Doesn't make much sense for us to go back to staying open until 9 like this.
I really don't understand the logic on the store hours. Even Macy's in our mall is only 11-8 M-Th. The business dies after 6 or 7! Anyone here have a logical answer ?? Other than the "they want us to appear normal & like nothing is wrong with the business" cr-p. Remember last year before COVID they played with store hours to save payroll.
A belk store should have seven or eight people closing at the least. Three people closing is a robbery waiting to happen, very dangerous and careless.
It’s not only a waste of time, it’s DANGEROUS. One or two associates on the floor, spread across however many thousand square feet, is terrifying. Some shady mofos out that late.
Same here. Midsize store, freestanding. Total waste of money.
