Thread regarding IBM layoffs

What to do before leaving? With HR

Hello - like many others I found a new role before the could cut me - (security - industrial). If you are reading this please start applying now as it takes at least a month to get through the whole interview process. With my final day on Friday what are some boxes I need to check with HR before I leave? Looking for best practices here other than the obvious return your devices, claim unused vacation days etc...

I am a younger employee. But you have to respect all the older colleagues and blame IBM for its wrong doing by age discrimination. Whom you are calling Dinosaurs, they have joined IBM when IBM was no. 1 tech company. They were brilliant minds of their time. You will also get older. If you were really skilled, you wouldn't have worked for IBM. There are many companies out there and obviously FAANG. But you couldn't crack that that's why you are still here. So don't compared with them. Compare yourselves with your generation people.

@7ppq we don't get laid off because we're dinosaurs. We get laid off because we make a lot more money than you. And guess what, bruh - we deserve it. When we're gone and your arrogance and ignorance can't replace our wisdom and knowledge, let us know so we can laugh as you get kicked out the door.

All the būtthurt old timer are the ones complaining and saying to print things. That should clue you in as to why they got laid off. Skills of a dinosaur.

You put your right foot in
You put your right foot out
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about!

print all your HR records - go to the netbenefits site - print/screenshoot all your netbenefit records... you do not say how long you have been in the company, but there are some benefits, such as the future health account (not the same as the hsa) that are not obvious. If you have been in awhile, your hr records are spread across the current system and archives. It is just nice to have all your past awards, records, pay increases/dates, etc in your files.. Query internally on "leaving ibm" - there should be an on-line site that walks you through all the out processing tasks. Why they wait until midnight of your last day to send a link to you is beyond me, when the site is up all the time. Leave with your head up, and turn all your material over to the right folks. Enjoy life.

Leave it to a millennial soy boy to suggest online storage for vital documents.

I think you're late for another peaceful protest bruh.

@1ywk - I mean, "bruh"... Ya know what, you bratty millennial? Do yourself a favor and screencap your post and print it. YA PRINT IT... cuz you won't be able to get it off your iPhone, Cloud, or Drive in 25 years. Now tuck it away for 25 years. Next, when YOU'RE in the "twilight" of your career, pull that paper out and read it and realize how naive and idiotic you sounded. Punk.

I left last year after 33 years. They sent me a letter stating that I owed them money for my health insurance premiums, so be sure to have copies of your recent pay information. Was total BS & I could prove them wrong, but you never know what they may try.

Congrats, but it's only a matter of time before your "number" comes up again, I'm afraid.

Save copies of evaluations (in case needed by a potential manager for pay negotiation or reference), paychecks, promotions, awards, etc. if desired, make appointments with fidelity, smart money or any other benefits.

Print and copy all emails, ST and texts that may help you in case you get thrown under the bus. Be paranoid and get call the documentation possible In case of a law suit. Trust me, IBM cannot be trusted and will play dirty if it comes to getting rid of an aged person.
