I wish I had such amazing market outlook, very impressed with HVs impressive acquisition list
- Archivas (HCP) : i heard the acquisition cost was so high the company haven't yet made profit on it. However this might be the best acquisition yet.
- Blue arc: Semi decent NAS pitted against world class Notapp. Very few support engineers to support a super buggy product. BH k–led the product and then realized the market was growing for NAS. Creating a volume on HNAS required PhD.
Still the second best acquisition inspite of all the flaws.
- Oxya : no one remembers this one. HDS acquired a SAP service provider because someone had a friend working there.
- Parascale : HDS tried hard to find some use for this Filesystem but never did and wrote it off, fired the staff.
- Pentaho : also expensive acquisition for a product we could have downloaded for free or even developed ourselves. A bunch of overconfident a$$ holes were included for free. All have been fired for pretending to know analytics.
- Containership: God knows why.
- Ryan cloud : not a bad acquisition if they can integrate it with the main organization. For some reason pentagon was supposed to get their AWS services (project JEDI) from this little known partner. which is probably it was acquired, but soon after JEDI was awarded to MS, and Ryan cloud has been pushed to oblivion.
- Waterline data : data catalog tool that no one will ever want to buy.
- Globallogic : they logic of this acquisition is not clear to me yet. Maybe Hitachi will finally integrate Containership and waterline to make it float??
I guess this is a good way to put the money saved from layoffs to good use.
