Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

How busy are you?

I don’t know if I should panic more when I have too much work or when I have too much free time. How busy is your schedule? Whomever of my colleagues I talk to they say that they have more work to do than ever. My case is that I’ve never had less work to do and I worry that it's an empty table syndrome and that they could soon inform me that they don’t need me anymore.

“You do what the job requires.” At any cost? No man, my family time means more to me than VH and her “woke” emails that make me feel ashamed for being born

I am more productive from home but never seem to finish everything I want to do per week. Maybe I want to get done too much? Certainly the commute will take a lot of energy from me wanting to go the extra miles I am already putting from home, if that makes sense

Actually if working 12 hours straight a day without lunch is what you call work ethic then good luck. I have been working for 40 years in the field and in the office. As long as I am at home I will work 12 hours and more if needed, but if I have to do a 3 hour trip plus 12 hours that is just stupid. I have done it many times and still do the long hours at home, and I consider that a great work ethic. If that is not enough for you then good for you. I am no where near ashamed of working 12 hours a day and actually doing quality work. In fact I myself feel pretty stupid for doing it on many occasions.

I used to work from the office from 6 am to 6pm all of the time plus 5 hours on fridays off and most weekends. What job do you people ha pie where you think only 9 hours a day is enough. It is called work ethic for professional positions. You do what the job requires.

I have a ton of work to do and usually have to work from 6-6 just to keep up. I don't mind since I am home and don't have to commute. The day I go back to commuting will be the day I cut back on my hours for about a three hour round trip. To put these hours in at the office I would need to leave the house around 4:45am and get back home around 7:30. Not going to do that at all.
