Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

How to make it easier to endure working at State Farm?

It's become harder and harder to get through the day, and then comes a non-working day during which I fail to get enough rest to continue working the next day. I am under tremendous stress.

I’m trying to find a way to handle the workday more easily, but it seems impossible. Or maybe someone has some good strategy to make the day here as easy as possible?

Why should you or any other claim handler give AF about how thorough the liability investigation is? Your mandate is to make a f-load of them every week, and also not accepting too much liability on the policyholder. Just do it what they ask so you can survive. If that’s a problem, it won’t be yours.

@1iks we are on the fast track to MORE major lawsuits for our liability handling practices.
Thorough claim investigations are Not being conducted at SF, they want people to make Liability decisions when they should not be doing that, just close the claim, WOW.

It's going to real hard to endure when WFH ends and people are crammed back into their shi#hole cubicles in overcrowded hubs.

@1iks I am in leadership. Yes I spend 8 hours a day in front of my computer, I am stressed and depressed, can't wait for the weekend to get here, am overweight, have hypertension and high cholesterol and have no say so in how I run my team. I have low morale, don't believe in the metrics and think we are on the fast track to major lawsuits for our liability handling practices. And if I don't go along to get along I would be fired just as fast as any one of my handlers.

Look up looking at a computer in a call center atmosphere for 8 hrs a day five days a week studies. What State Farm does NOT tell you is it causes depression, weight gain, comorbidities, and other mental illness. Does your leadership spend that time doing the same? Tell you something?

I try to do the best I can and as much work as I can without overdoing it. They ask too much of us. I do what I'm able and begin again the next day.

OP.....Maybe your anxiety comes from your desire to 'make the day as easy as possible'.....I would challenge you to quit your job, so that you are not beholden to anyone. Then, you will have more than adequate opportunity to arrange your working life however you see fit. Good luck!

You are fine as long as you recognize the stressor are there. You are ahead of them in fact. Most don't have the slightest clue the damage they are putting on "their kids/minions". Human beings are the service not their insane technology metrics. They're damaging people mentally and physically. I honestly feel sorry for those left after I dealt with it for over 3 decades. They're crazy.....you aren't! Be strong!

For starters, not giving employees two consecutive days off to rest and recover from the daily insanity, is a recipe for physical and mental health problems. A lot of employees self medicate to get through their workday. What a terrible way to live. I would find a more humane employer.

The only way to make it easier is by knowing you are putting in your best effort to find a job somewhere else and will hopefully get out soon.
