I try not to care about this company and where it is going because I can’t change anything except create even more stress for myself. Every day I repeat to myself that I am only here for the paycheck and that the time has long passed when work here meant fulfillment. However, I'm failing at it because I can’t ignore what’s going on. Every town hall is a disaster. Eventually I realize that I’m just pretending not to care, and in fact it still frustrates me what they are doing with the company that used to be a great place for new talented employees and those who work hard.

It’s easy to ignore the sheer depth of stupidity at Cenovus. Just take all your thoughts and ideas and push then way way down and don’t speak out. Cenovus no longer values original thinkers, they just want drones. Best you can do is hope for the job market to recover and move on.
Alex has maybe given up as he knows he’s out the door as soon as they replace him with Jon so logically he probably doesn’t care all that much.
It's probably more about your self worth than you caring about what the company feels about you. It's hard to feel worthy when you care about doing a good job but the company sees you as a cog at best. It's only people's pride in their own work that is keeping this garbage hauler afloat.
Quit lying to yourself. They don’t care about any of us.
