I don't know if it's the stimulus checks or the change in season or whatever else but our sales are finally picking up again. I was worried we would be closed sometime soon considering how bad sales were for the past few months. I hope it stays like this because I need this job right now.

My store has been doing better than expected, beating sales plan regularly since we reopened, so no it's not temporary. To get a true gage on how your store is doing, look at the numbers since we reopened. Also, just because some stores close, doesn't mean your store is next, as long as you are doing well. Large companies close stores that do not do well over all, it's the smart thing to do. If you own several stores and you have one that hasn't done well the last few years, do you keep it open just because?
Sorry to say but the sales don't last long. In 2019 when I was still with the company we had a great year and business was booming but somehow close to Thanksgiving there was already talks about layoffs heading into 2020. Even then from Thanksgiving to Christmas we were still doing good but by the next year the higher ups decided to go forward with the layoffs regardless of how business was.
Wrong post Amazon is another thread this is dead Macy’s.
Temporary, after stimulus then what? 1400 doesn’t go very far.
