How many of you who got out of Belk can say you enjoy what they are doing now? Other than retail, what other industries did you find it easy to get a job at? I’m looking to get out and am debating on what industries I can build a career on. Any suggestions would help me figure things out.

Work for government now. Belk was never meant to be permanent. As I left, I gave them the same notice they gave me before my 8 month furlough, exactly 6 hours before my next shift. Was never personal and I feel somewhat crummy about it, but I’m better off for it. The store manager left a week later from what I heard, had to work on herself I suppose; come to find out, her husband had died nearly a year before and she held tough, doubt anyone in the store ever knew. I hope you all who are still with Belk find what it is you’re truly after.
I started at Target on Feb 15th, we get 40 hours at $16/hr and never work past 7pm doing visual.
