Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Will it work the way they imagined?

There are 56 stores in the company doing a pilot called innovative Selling. Merchandisers and pricing colleagues will also be working selling shifts, and selling colleagues will be placing and doing markdowns. Starts next month hours will be structured to have more people on the selling floor during open hours when customers are there. Won’t be coming in at 6 am, come in one hour before the store open. Signing and visual move to back of house with receiving: Fulfillment moves to back of house too. If it works how they think it will, the rest of the company will be rolled out by this Fall.

OP: @9xtr+19Wgq62l, I doubt very much that everything will work out the way they think it will. There could be a lot of problems. Any thoughts?

its all design to get you all to quit or go crazy... its not a feasible solution and will never work..
they just wanna knock out stores and managers faster with overloading you and pushing everyone beyond their limits.. then they will scold you for not working hard enough.. its over and you know it..

This will be a total debacle, as we can’t staff stores as it is, and many support associates will quit. They like coming early and leaving by noon or 1.

What about associates in fragrances? Now,they have to service customers with beauty merchandise!!!! Learn ALL PRODUCTS FROM ALL BEAUTY BAYS. In a near future, we were told, only ONE central register to be used for ALL 40 and some employees. I can see the writing on the wall. We are a big store in Southern California, the sun rises every day, our jobs are going further south...... and so it goes for our sanity. Unrealistic

Is there a list of the stores that this will be happening in?

what will be worse is that in all stores except union ones and certain areas, is that new full time reqs will be 28 hours. if a new hire wants to work more, they have to pick up shifts. also, the eligibility for medical benefits will go from 6 months to 12. now that is HORRIBLE!!!!!!

So I’m the pricing and signing captain. There’s no way this will work. I also merchandise and work processing trucks some days. I can’t go back and forth being front of house and back of house on certain days.

I agree! Sales associates can’t even put their go back racks away or properly recover ! How on earth are they going to merchandise correctly.
Merchandising takes skill and problem solving especially when you have a full floor trying to figure out how to add even more product.

In my opinion this isn’t going to work....but the company will tell itself it worked and roll out to all stores...smh

Merchandising team in our store are use to coming in early at 6 or 8 am and leave at 3 or 4 pm. Also they always have the weekends off. Now that our store is one of the 56 pilot stores, alot of our colleagues have to adapt to the changes.

I don't see how this could work. I'm in a bigger store and we're so understaffed and backed up all the time they can never catch up and now you want to ad Ringing on the register, plus coming in later. That time in the morning before we are open is when they get the most stuff accomplished. And signing team? What signing team they all do everything! Sign, truck, merchandise, markdowns, RFID...
And the sales assoc are few and far between, they can't even keep up with their fitting room, straightening the floors, picking and now we're gonna have them put away goods too! Who's going to teach them how to put the merchandise away correctly (no one has time for that) don't mix groups and how everything prices differently.
You're just going to change supports hours? A lot of people can't work later, that's why they come in early!
This has disaster written all over it.
