Support team is getting abused

In addition to not getting our schedules out in advance, (in my store we are lucky if the schedule is posted by Friday) we are always getting more and more tasks tacked on to what we already have. Receiving is doing receiving AND merchandising and selling/ fulfillment in addition to playing LP, since we don't have any. And merchandising is doing selling AND receiving on top of the merchandising and signing duties they already have and we haven't seen a single increase in pay. Our store manager call all the BOH people "generalist". Is this happening in your stores too?

I'm in support and also feel used and abused. I was hoping for things to change back with time.....but now after reading the latest new about us..... well maybe is time to really think on something else, I really used to love my job .

I'm, Fulfillment stays whole for the Innovative Selling pilot doors. The go to Back of House for scheduling and will not be working in the floor unless they want to for picking up extra hours. Same for Receiving, Visual, and Signing. Only Merchandisers and Price Change go to FOH Generalist.

This isn’t happening in my store yet but my store manager has been telling us executives for months that we are all basically “generalist” in stores now. We all have to do every and there is no more “that’s not my job”.

The last reply wasn’t what is happening. It goes live 4/25 and by May 1st the exit will be in full force. .40 cent raise and more responsibilities then less interested selling colleagues.

Just early retired after 29 years. The past 20 years were in support. I loved my job as lead merchandiser. Great schedule Monday through Friday 5am to 2pm. When returning from furlough everything changed for the worse. Now support does everything and almost every weekend scheduled. The schedule doesn’t come out until Friday afternoon so don’t make plans for Sunday. I definitely was planning on staying for several more years but finally became an unbearable situation. I know my team feels the same but are not close enough to retirement age. I miss the Macy’s that was before Covid and would definitely still be there.

Support is were some of the best colleagues are. We continue to push the good ones to the point they are going leave and the less motivated are now key colleagues that can do nothing wrong. We are going to leverage support to make the selling environment better at the cost of losing them in the end.
Fulfillment will suffer as of May 1. The company is not thinking about the future there thinking about the now. People not working in stores , don’t know what stores need to be successful
