I thought my job was safe until they brought on GBS and had me start training them. Although, I feel like they will still need me or some people to let GBS know how to do payroll. I don't feel safe most days and am just waiting to be told my future.
Very interesting question. It really depends on what you currently do and where you want to go. FL is by far the most stable. Pepsico Operations, the entire portfolio including FL, can and will most likely go 3PL. 3PL is contractual thus gives Pepsico a fixed cost over the length of the contract if desired = No more variable! For Pepsico to continue have Ops overhead makes 0 sense in regards to a 10yr outlook and beyond. With 3PL employees who can perform the same tasks, why would you continue to pay cost (Inflated HR departments - Mgrs - payroll - bennys - liability insurance - workmans comp - payroll taxes - company plans/401k - union scares exc..). This may sting a bit for those who would be impacted, but literally this cost reduction solution would cascade over 15+ years and thus appeal to long term investors. For front line sales - without question the same strat plan. Outside of UDS business, the day of a traditional route salesperson are archaic. Why pay base plus commish when outsourced merchandisers or delivery personnel can do the same. Reality is outside of below average organic growth the past 10yrs, the only way Pepsico has remained relevant has been through very agressive pricing and the drastic cuts to the overall compensation packages (2010 share power eliminated - 2012 Pensions no longer for all new hires - 2015 - 401K match reductions - 2008 to current state Health Package decrease in coverage and increase in cost). With the drastic actions taken in the last decade, Pepsico has no other choice than to get out of the Payroll and liability umbrella. Pepsico could literally reduce and streamline the workforce 50+% by 2035 and not blink over the next 15yrs.
no ones career seems to be safe unless you are out in the market. Once payroll goes fully to India, I am sure more people on the frontline will move on from Frito.
Bottom of the sh—pile, same as now. Pathetic
I’m a former employee of F-L . The company has a robust transportation and distribution system and IMO will be around for another 30+ years. They will - and already are - transitioning from your garden-variety sugar water and full fat offerings to products that are LESS unhealthy (notice I didn’t say BFY). And no, I’m not a former executive or sycophant, just someone who feels that I was fairly paid for the work I performed.
In ten years, PepsiCo will be in the same place it's always been – selling obesity and diabetes to the stupid.
In the can 🤣
Someone told me long ago "The closer you are to the customer, the safer you will be."
Avoid Pepsi, focus on Frito Lay and you’ll be very comfortable.
Depends on where you work. Some locations/business units are thriving while others are not a priority.
Are you a college hire? If so. You have it made. Otherwise,, ,,,
