Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Who else should be organizing retirement events? You can't expect HR to do this, and it really should come from the department manager of the employee(s) who happens to be leaving. It's just bad form to do absolutely nothing. But then again, L3 is all about screwing people over anyhow, so they would not put in any effort to do something nice.

I actually DO expect that the company provide some small gesture for a retiring employee. It's not that much to ask. Clearly you have never heard of some of the bloated salaries and bonus figures 'earned' by the corporate fools.

Do you literally expect that "the company" would organize something? I've seen such events organized (and funded) by employees but I don't recall any company involvement.

Now, if the employees have become so jaded that they don't care anymore, that's another issue. But I don't think you can hold management to blame for no retirement events.

Instead, you can send an email thanking the person. Why make a big deal out of it? People come and go all the time. And who has a buck to give away these days. Have you heard of unemployment? Give that buck to charity. People are going hungry.

If you care so much, why don't you spend some of your money and invite the entire company for a nice gathering. Why have others contribute? You sound like you're loaded. Is the guy who's leaving complaining. I bet not - he's a free man. So stop whining. This is a LAYOFF forum, not about "Oh I'm so kind and caring, and the rest of you aren't." LOL Grow Up!
