What on earth is a "pilot store"?????

so what is the plan for the pilot ?
We are one of the pilot stores and our Backstage associates will be dropping the T-shirts and dressing like everyone else, because they may not be assigned to work Backstage every day.
Dress code has not been altered.
What's the dress code for a pilot store associate? Our store is one of the 56 stores listed for these new program.
Rather than roll out a new program to all of the stores, they try it out or “pilot” it on a few stores or in a region of the country.
A pilot store is just a door that is piloting a new program. Lots of stores have been pilot stores for Insite when it first rolled out, e-signing, work force reinvent, etc.
I may be wrong but I believe it means a test store.
