I have been with Lowes for 3 years and only make lower end of 11 dollars an hour. Last week in the training room they had 13.50 dollars an hour on the dry erase board for new hires. Since then they erased that because some employees were upset. I think, rightfully so. But I feel like I should apply to another neighboring store to get that wage. I don't understand why they do not boost everyones pay if you make below that.

Lowes corporate doesnt expect an employee to stay on more than 3 years. After your hire, you will get like 25 cent raises annually. After 3 years, newbies coming in will start much higher. Its the new corp America. I have a specialist making more than the manager because manager been there 8 years. The manager knows how to do everything. The specialist? Not a fraction as much AND she disappears and is a terrible employee. Good work Lowes!!
I was there for a long time. Quit. They made me hourly to start. Then they lowered my pay by 20% but raised my commissions. They made me salary at the same time so hours increased greatly. Then they all but took commissions away for most things. They pulled commissions from specialists but raised the base pay for them, as long as they stay in the same position. But the cut was basically a 25% loss for faithful long term employees. There is no company that actually cares about you. They care about the dollars. You are replaceable and are going to be pushed out.
Our new hires only make $10.55 an hour for part time. Right now that is all they are hiring for. But I agree with you...I would be highly p-ss-d off. Our garden center helper vendors pay $11.50.
I started at Lowes in 2007. This was going on then, and we were met with that famous s—a– excuse, "It is what it is". I was working nights, and we got ZERO shift differential, and got the "We're working on it". This will never change at Lowes. Glad I'm gone.
