Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I miss the old coworkers and the co-operation we had

I have been working here for a long time and whenever I had the opportunity to help my colleagues who were overloaded with work, I helped them, and vice versa. Somehow we were very close and we were a very well-coordinated team. However, almost none of my old colleagues are here anymore and I really miss them.
It is interesting to me that more stressful times have come, and that such a cooperative spirit is now less than ever present with the new colleagues. Paradoxically, instead of treating each other better to cope with stress more easily, cooperation seems to no longer exist.

I meant to say this all took place within a year.

When I started at Macys I already had two friends working there so they were the only two I talked with for a while. Then a third one who worked before me I also got to know down the line and we all formed somewhat of an elite pack for our team. Not saying everyone else were useless but we were the most depended on for floor moves, projects, and other big tasks. Then in 2019 one left so now it was down to three. In the beginning of 2020 I got laid off then it became two. After the covid shutdown began and the entire store were forced to furlough-lay off the two left were called back but one decided not to come back and the only one left worked for a month or two till everything just seems bad and left as well. This all took place within 3 years and a couple months ago when I went to visit my former department everything was just different. Not only cause the elite pack are no longer there but a great amount of people both on my team and sales and vendors I became close with all left as well so now the store is pretty much empty and I only stay in connect with my ex co workers on social media.

Same here. Everyone in my store is overloaded and dejected. We are doing the jobs of three people. When our department found ways to adjust and make things more efficient for us, our district managers came through and said no, they wanted it the old way. So it went back to inefficient, upset customers, lost sales. Clearly they know what they are doing, though. 🙄
