Thread regarding Belk layoffs

They look at employees as enemies?

I have a growing feeling that Belk views their employees as enemies. Otherwise I can’t explain such a bad atmosphere at work. This company no longer understands that it shares the same, not opposing, interests with us. I wish it wasn't this way, because when I think back to my first day here, I was full of optimism. Lately, however, I feel miserable when I get to work.

These company trools never stop amazing me! We associates know we are serfs and Belk is the Czar! We know how that worked out.

Belk employee here. We, including management in my store, work for the same shared goal; best service to all customers and mutual respect amongst our store team. The usual expected productivity naturally follows. No one is viewed as an enemy. It’s retail; we sell clothing amongst other sought after categories. It’s a pretty basic concept. Stick to basics and practice best execution. At the end of your day if you’re feeling like you are being treated as an enemy, have a conversation with your manager.

Eh.. it’s every large corporation. Bottoms lines and shareholders.. that’s all you work for. I feel optimism every new job I started as well.. lasted about 3 weeks and then I realized it’s the same ol’ bs just a different company.
