I felt especially bad for the prople who lost the 401k match. That should really be emphasized in the recruiting process since it seems a little unethical to tell sell somebody a position base on a benefit if it is not provided.

If you have less than 3 years with GM, you will be targeted in any layoffs. Your 401K match will be forfeited.

For 6 years exp for someone that has been at GM for all of them is around 85k base.
For someone new coming in , should be at least 90k base.
Masters with 6 years exp is even more.

only one way to find out. note gm offers slightly lower pay than a lot of places but the benefits are very good. over 30 days off a year, 8% 401k contribution, unlimited sick time, 10% standard bonus

Beware. After working there and being loyal to them for years, they will offer to walk you out the door. And it will be an offer you can’t refuse.

Don’t listen to the bitter whiners on here. Yes, you do have to deal with some more red tape and politics with it being a big company but they pay well.

Maintain good performance and relevant job skills and you’ll be fine. Lots of folks work until retirement there.

You are in the wrong website buddy. There are many apps out there with data on salaries. Your salary will always depend on experience and how well you do on your interview.

I had 20 years of service to GM. They will EFF you over every chance possible, from the position you inquire about, and the HR reps that toss your resume in the trash. They claim professional grade, yet act nothing like.

I won't go into my own personal contributions here, and how I trained a number of their blue badges, but take it for what it is. GM is a plague upon the automotive world. Your tenure, is limited. You heard it here first.

Find yourself a tier one company, and enjoy a career that can lead you into retirement. You will NEVER find that at gm_ . So effing queer.

Closely evaluate your patience and tolerance for dysfunction and aggravation.
