Was just at my local Wal Mart. Place was filthy. Self check condensed to a 20 by 20 pig pen now. Only one out of 14 checker lanes open. And worse of all. Bare grocery shelves. Yet the middle area full of pallets of product ready for stocking.
Why is Wal mart like this now? Especially with grocery area and bare shelves. Is there specific days they stock or what?

Pretty much all of Philly Market is disgusting, dirty filthy empty shelves freight everywhere..

They will use covid as an excuse for anything and everything. Its the cowardly and cheap way out of every problem
Before Covid, WM stocks daily.
With pre screening of associates pre shift (or associates self screening) staff has been slashed.
Yes they have no cashier scheduled until f—ing 11 at my store. Service desk has to ring register and is the ONLY open lane open till f—ing 11. Customers yell and scream and refuse to use the self check outs. Soon they will be forced to use the self checkouts.
This big mess is primarily due to Covid. Well, that and the fact they are down to the bare minimums for staffing to begin with. This is why you have hardly any cashiers, pallets everywhere on the floor and Depts. closing down early on a regular basis – ie Money Center, TLE, Sporting Goods, etc. It was rough to begin with – but now we have a pandemic – and a massive winter storm across most of the US right now (shelves that look like last March/April) . . . This will not be getting better any time soon. Eventually, most stores will be self check out only (no more cashiers) – so, more fun times are right around the corner.
To clarify....The self checkout area used to be spacious and wide area. Now it’s condensed to a 20 by 20 foot area. Complete sand which of 6 stations and with covid. It’s not an ideal situation to be that closely packed in my opinion.
