Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Mostly limited to retail?

I was a cashier here and after I was laid off I am getting desperate because I can’t find another job in this industry. I’m already getting desperate because I can’t find another job. I tried to get out of retail, but I don’t have much choice because I don’t have any other skills. I know this is my personal problem, but I’m wondering if you’re also trying to find a job in retail again or do you have options beyond that?

Banks and insurance companies are options if you can present yourself well and have a friendly personality and can pass a background check.

Go back to school with Pell grants and student loans all you would need is a part time job to get an education and a shot at a better job. Most universities offer online studies.

Some of our cashiers have gone on to be bank tellers. The only drawback is having to wear nicer clothes which can be expensive.
