Thread regarding Belk layoffs

Walmart to hike wages forworkers to average above $15 an hour. Who woulda thought?

"Walmart announced Thursday it will raise pay for workers to an average above $15 an hour, giving a boost to 425,000 employees.
Beginning March 13, the company said, pay for store workers in digital and stocking positions will go up to $13 to $19 an hour, depending on store location.

Rivals Amazon and Target have earlier last year made their starting wages $15 an hour."

And yes Joe B has announced his desire for a national $15 minimum wages. Though he says it should be gradually introduced particularly in backward thinking southern states where minimum wages still hover around a paltry $8 hr.

BTW, WM stock getting hammered this morning on lower earnings for the last quarter and interestingly this common refrain (warning) fro the big retailers:
"The decelerating pace of e-commerce growth rate points to some challenges it will face as tailwinds from the global health crisis trends fade. More Americans are getting Covid vaccines and can spend their budget in other ways."

You betcha I'm going to spend my money in other ways! Gonna book a cruise on one of Sycko's cruise ships. D'ya think? It's titanic baby, simply titanic!

I really wish Belk either raises pay to at least $15 an hour or goes out of business forever. It under Sycamore became a lousy company to work for and a lousy store to shop at. Sycamore shouldn't even be managing a convenience store let alone a department store chain given their mismanagement.
