Thread regarding CGG Veritas layoffs

Reasons you are still at CGG?

CGG is my former workplace, I left recently before they could fire or lay me off. I couldn’t take it anymore because suddenly there was no reason for me to stay. The stock price speaks volumes about the state of the company. I just wonder, why do people stay here?
The situation on the market is not ideal, but you should still be OK if you have the skills.

Many people that stay are the ones that couldn’t cut it anywhere else. There are far too many useless blobs working there, wasting the most money and benefiting from large salaries and bonuses. Too many extravagant and redundant projects. There are too many of these people for the company to continue. Bankruptcy is coming. Again.

why jump when you can wait around enjoying ridiculous bonuses and benefits hoping nobody notices you, and when HR or Mgmt do (and they will) you get a nice fat redundancy cheque, happy days

I'm sure you realise that the oil price has recently crashed and all companies have been cutting back - thus there are no geophysics jobs to go to elsewhere. Any job is better than no job.
