Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Store full-time employees?

I am considering applying for walmart. Im currently with a major department store making $11.25 per hour but only getting 28 to 30 hours a week. Is the grass greener on the other side?

Maybe 30 plus years ago. But not now. No way.

Some companies have more issues than others. The difference is Walmart likes chaos. Corporate likes making people’s jobs more difficult at store level. They don’t have to deal with the real world. Everybody has a boiling point on how much they are able to put up with. That company takes from their people every year. No thanks!

Here is the deal, retail is retail. You may be happier at another retailer, Home Depot treats their employees well. . But the all the same issues (with different names) are in all of retail. Staffing levels, shifts, fulfillment, re-stocking of items, cleaning the stores the list goes on an on. Each retailer on this board has the same issues, same topics and everyone blames the CEO on down the line to their manager.

Find a place where you are happy to do your job and accept some issues, because in the end every place has issues.

Run! Home-Office isn’t there to make things work they want the opposite they like chaos. They don’t have to deal with any of it!

Walmart is scaling back on employees. They restructured the department mangers and will be getting more self check outs. We are short staffed. No cashiers come in until 10:30-11:00 daily. Very stressful not enough help and overworked. Doing multiple jobs per day. Management is awful don’t value employees. Also customer’s complaining and screaming everyday because no open lanes. Grass is not greener at Walmart that’s for sure. It’s getting worse and worse by the minute. Have been there 10 years. Now they will be doing new scheduling in the coming months and it sounds like it’s going to be a disaster. Just when you think it can’t get worse there it does.
