I know many of the managers are scrambling to find rebound jobs once the axe finally drops.

BN has a bad rep in the retail field. No decent company would hire a bad manager.

I already know my store is closing. Seen the blueprints for the new store coming in plus my friend works at that store. But BN still denying it. Friend says they were told construction starts end of month beginning of March. So..

Our store is a large one, and really making the minimum to keep the lights on, yet no plans to shut us down.

I’m amazed how we just keep hanging on.

So much has been going on lately, I now read this page every day. I hope we hear about the stores closing here before they announce it to the public.

Someone is actually writing about this company turning around? Did they get paid off? If you came into our store you can easily see we're on life support and I'm surprised everyone is still getting paid. Luckily, I have some good options lined up and when they close up for good, I'm set. Everyone else is freaking out.

I guess this is why Forbes published this article about BN's strategy to turn around its decline. This go local mantra. Might work for some restaurants, and some indie bookstores but I dont see this working for a former corporate behemoth. Corporations are about making money. And so are hedge funds; and BN is owned by a hedge fund. Furthermore, BN doesn't have the staff to implement this strategy successfully because, in my experience, the managers are often dumber than the book sellers. Now how are they going to come up with new, let alone innovative, ideas to save this Titanic? The article from Forbes reads like paid promotion for BN. Another example of BN wasting resources.
