Thread regarding Nordstrom layoffs

Nordstrom as "Amazon of Fashion"

Some optimistic comments re the presentation last week:

OK. So this:

"We were most intrigued to learn that Nordstrom will expand its choice count from ~300,000 items to ~1.5 million over the next 3-5 years by using a partner marketplace model instead of traditional wholesale," Evercore says, what may be an "AMZN-esque" development. Also, Nordstrom is expanding its Local Market strategy to the 20 biggest U.S. markets, from a current 10, covering 75% of sales volume.

It's 2021 and they just figured this one out? The drop-ship business should have indicated this years ago. Why now? The hour is late.

I remember years ago Jamie saying they'd be carrying everything offered by every vendor – every style and color nike, Burberry, ugg, Ivanka, etc... and then they'd hit $20B in sales... never happened. Not even sure if 2 day shipping is a consistent thing yet.
Amazon could still become the Amazon of fashion, especially as more people get comfortable buying clothes online.
