Belk was already running on a skeleton crew with declining visual standards and quality of merchandise before Covid. Stores stayed messy and the only time they were cleaned was when there was a visit. Then they would use all their hours fir visit prep and cut hours like crazy after the visit. Covid just made it worse. Don't let anyone from Belk tell you that Covid got them in this situation because they were already there. This is coming from a long time Belk employee in a very large store.

They were in trouble waaaay before COVID. I left in 2016 and it was a $hit Show then.
