Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Problem: understaffed

This place has become a real hassle. I feel like we're beating a dead horse. We are so short on staff that it is no longer possible to bear it. Of course, my superiors are not interested in that, and I am less and less interested in working for them as well.
I finally realized that the only thing I could do was try to get out of here. I forgive them for all the effort I put in that was not valued, because it will help me find a better place.

I agree with you 100% and I guarantee you WILL find something better for you and you WILL be appreciated for your work. I was on the same boat. I worked my a– off in Macy's, not one of those ghetto heifers acknowledged my work. I worked in Macy's from 2018-2020, but worked there again as a seasonal associate and after my seasonal, I am OVER Macy's. It's time for me to move on to something else. Macy's gave me an opportunity and I was grateful for that, even thought they kinda screwed me over, but it's just time to move on. You deserve much better! Good luck :)

I think working hard and giving it 110% is just in a person. I work just as hard at volunteering as I do working for Macy’s. It’s just a part of who a person is. I couldn’t slack off if I wanted to and believe me it is tempting. The powers that be don’t appreciate the efforts and just keep piling on. Expectations far exceed reality. I just keep saying to myself “ one day at a time “.

It's sad, really. Despite the lack of staff and leadership, I still show up every day and give it my best. The reason I do this is for me. My co-workers often ask me why I'm working so hard, telling me "They (meaning Macy's) never appreciate it." Probably not. I need the paycheck and more importantly, the medical coverage for my family. But, the truth is, I work as hard as I do, for me. I value myself, my work ethic and my professionalism (yes, even at Macy's.) I'm not suggesting anyone else should be like me. I'm just stating that, by changing the focus to doing my best, then the constant lack of staff just becomes "it is what it is" and I don't waste mental energy on it. Is life at Macy's what I signed up for years ago? No. Do the current circumstances make working at Macy's easy? No. But right now, during these uncertain times, it's a job, with medical benefits. It is what it is.

Here is the root of the issue, Macy*s isn't hiring at the best pay, the 'selling positions' are very not exactly the way they describe it. When they do hire they have turn, and it's a never ending circle of life for M.
