Baker Hughes. What are we ?

More employees in HR than drilling operations nowadays. So are we a drilling company or an HR company nowadays ?

You are one of two things. If you are LT you are untouchable, if youre not you are a Potential Cost Out Iniative, PCOI that can be axed every time Senior Management blows a fortune buying a CCC, Xantham gum, or some magic beans. Lets hope its beans, you can eat beans!

Its simple, we are just a number to deliver profits for our shareholders. When your number is up ..out you go after 10 years . Then they will get you back when they need someone to tidy up the mess , as a contingent worker. Then the real abuse starts , when you have no rights , no mechanism to talk to anyone about issues , looked down on by many employees who you once worked with as you are a contractor , excluded from anything since you are not an employee . That is the future, they will have the majority on short term contracts, pay them less , no pension, no medical, no holidays. You put up with it as you need money to feed your kids and will do anything to make ends meet . That's what we are , and its not what we were and that is what HR has done for us . Doing the right things right is now a memory.

We are now a very poor shadow of the company we once were.
We are run at best by half wits with extremely dubious qualifications from dubious third world educational establishments, who are hired on the cheap and do not understand the job basics from A to Z, and thus we fail clients left right and centre continuously. Piss poor

Barely hanging on and getting absolutely abused by our competitors. Apparently our competition doesn't believe in poor leadership, they make changes high up when necessary

A $20 billion joke, but we won't suffer too much longer with current leadership

Neither a drilling company nor a HR company, but more like a soon to be BK company

HR is nothing about the well-being of the employee and being fair. They have their favorites and those favorites become their eyes and ears. They stop being impartial, and become just like any other dummy in the organization that develop preconceived notions about employees. P...poor managers are really good about patting themselves on the back to look good, and if any one below them tries to complain about anything that employee is considered a trouble maker.

Always the same story for years. Here’s an idea - why not farm out the HR jobs and bring folks that are really impartial? A third party company that just deals with payroll and benefits questions and remove the bias. If your an HR leader in the same role for more than 2 years...your time is up. Switch or move out.

Never go to HR for anything more than payroll, benefits, or networking for another position. Always direct your complaints to the highest ombudsman within the company or executive HR. Local to the site usually don’t maintain your confidentiality and will coherently position obstacles and leverage you. Being the bigger person, and wanting to instill positive change isn’t in your benefit. This is the only way to keep the status quo and actually makes things easier on everyone. HR isn’t equipped to handle more and onsite ombudsmen are appointed by local management. Learn how to navigate this company and you won’t feel like a victim.

I’m not being negative I’m shedding light.

Was a GE company. Current incarnation claims to be a Technology company. Wonder what it will be in 12 months time?
