The atmosphere in my store is such that I am surprised that the store is still not closed and that those of us left have not been fired long ago. Sales have never been worse. I don’t justify the manager’s behaviour at all, but I understand to some extent - we are all frustrated.
What is the atmosphere like in your store? I’m not interested in the location, I’m just interested in what your day looks like and how visited is your store?

Extremely toxic i was an ASM for one of their locations a few years back. The position was a huge strain to my mental health and i was even hospitalized due to the major anxiety i was having.

It's not looking good. Every week we getting fewer and fewer books in. Customers ask me for popular titles and they won't even order them for the floor. So many of them say they'll just order on Amazon and leave.
There's a very creepy feeling in our store.
The atmosphere in our store is one of defeat. We’re just waiting to lose our jobs.
But do your managers scream at you to SELL, SELL, SELL and have you harass every customer until you drive the 2 poor old souls who buy nothing out?
Crowded but weak sales where I work, people just loiter around, staff is okay most keep busy my store has way to many managers though And most of them are useless. I mostly feel bad for them the booksellers know it’s only a matter of time, some of these managers have been with Barnes and Noble for decades and they really think they can’t lose their jobs, they are very out of touch gonna be sad when it happens.
