Thread regarding Bed Bath & Beyond layoffs

What keeps you here?

I would like someone to tell me that it is something other than struggle for mere existence and/or lack of alternatives. Is there anyone who feels just fine working here?
I ask this because I have seen many threads on this forum in which people complain about the working atmosphere and working conditions, to which others respond that they need to leave. I don’t quite understand that.
Does that mean that those who tell others to leave if they don’t like it here:

  • actually like it here and have no need to complain
  • think it is very easy to find another job
  • stoically endure the situation because they think that nowhere else is it better
  • have an interest in preventing us from writing the truth about what it is like to actually work at bbby?

Oh PLEAZ!!!!! You work at BBB!!!!! It’s no different than working at your nearest grocery store!!!!!! And without those venting about their jobs, you wouldn’t have a single comment on this silly board”!!!!!! Come on.... what is there to actually brag about??????

I don't think there is a " BBBY is great" crowd. IDK..maybe there is. I do know I stay because despite all the recent changes I still like it yes I get frustrated and feel things are not fair at times but I try to accept them..why ruin my days feeling stressed and unhappy.? When the bad outweighs the good I will leave..simple as that. And I agree..if you don't like your job, your situation, whatever then change it

To.."You make some valid points". You seem to think you know how other employees feel. You #1 and # 3 say " most employees". So how many employees out of the thousands and thousands we have do you know? 6? 7? I echo the questions posed earlier..1. how old are you? and. 2. Where have you worked before

There are a LOT of jobs out there. And as said before many are remote. I do not know how you can say there are not..there are. Have you looked? Maybe you are not interviewing well. Sometimes negativity comes thru during an interview. Some people on here are the "glass half empty person" there are tons of resources online about resume writing and interview skills. Think about the way you present yourself. You can either wallow in self pity or pick yourself up and move on. Of course people can have differing opinions..but what good does whining do? Yes you get it off your chest but it gets old. No one is trying to silence you..but it seems when people present options they are easily dismissed. Have you read other companies threads on here? Many have the same concern/complaints. If retail is not you..figure out what is you and work towards it. Take some classes, find a mentor, start at a company in an entry role and get experience and connections. Very seldom do things just come along..you have to go out and get them.

You make some valid points.
1). No most store associates are more complacent than happy. Hoping something better comes along. Workloads are high, pay is low. There are no options for making more or advancing with BBBY. The company expects because its retail to have a 2 year turnover so doesn’t expect to have to provide more.
2) It IS NOT EASY to find another job no matter what the BBBY is great crowd says. The workforce environment for all is tough and wage pressure is downward so BBBY is going to take full advantage of that.
3). Most full timers and ASMs have hung around because they need to.
4). The people who call out so called whiners are not respectful of differing opinions; much like some very vocal people in public. They want to silence someone else’s voice.

Take heart. You can say what you want for now.

Oh please. Why if you have left a company would you come back here to post? Seriously..that is weird. People tend to post more (about everything) when they are upset. And it is opinions..not facts..if someone says ..people are entitled to their opinions but it's just that..opinions. to say "the sky is colored blue":is a fact ..to say "I hate blue skies" that's an opinion. Again..some of us ask..why would you stay if unhappy? Why continue to post how bad it is to work here? Would you stay in a relationship that is terrible? Would you keep going to a restaurant if you hated it? Seriously.think about it.Have you been employed anywhere else? And if it was so good why did you leave? Just go already

I see a lot of posts from people who have stated they used to work at BBB, moved on to much better situations and lambaste BBB for what kind of company it is and how awful their associates are treated. Not all of it is whining or complaining but facts from former employees both store level and corporate. The negative feedback on this board mirrors what is also on Glassdoor so you can try to discredit it all you want, it is ultimately the truth.

Preventing people from writing the truth?? WTF? We work in retail..not for the CIA. What I don't get is why the heavy duty complainers do not leave. Why stay somewhere you hate? There are many jobs out there..and now more then ever many are remote. So what is the point of staying somewhere that you are miserable ? Brick and mortar retail in general a dying field. High end retailers will stay but you must be polished, experienced and we'll spoken to work in sales there

The truth?? Hehehe.. I think many of us are very early of hearing the same thing post after post. My personal guess is many of the complainers are very young without much job experience. Most, if not all of Big Box retail is the same. There ARE other jobs out there and some people like to complain and/or stir up things on this board.
