Upstream Headcount Reduction

When is Management announcing the headcount reduction for the Upstream Operations and Maintenance organizations? Any updates?

Don’t understand why Management is keeping us in this elevated stress level for such a long time. It creates mental and physical stress, which no one needs in this COVID pandemic environment.

Was just on a zoom webinar with the Kearl asset manager, 35 layoffs in upstream and 30 of those are at Kearl. All positions are site based not Calgary.

We won’t know until the end of the month if everyone has been told or not though, so here’s to 3 weeks of major anxiety!

There is delay because there will be an Upstream/Downstream merger & consolidation effort...

Could be a couple of factors like,

  1. Potential negative market reaction to the decision in the event of untimely disclosure (share price)
  2. Management simply doesn't care

Btw, has there been any word out if whether there are going to be further downsizing in Upstream?
