Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

All locations going to 32 hours ft beginning March 1st. Spread the word.

Just found out all locations cutting labor hours down to bare minimums. 32 hours a week!! I can’t live off of that.

@5RH, you are full of crp. First, the Board of Directors do not make those decisions. Second you are the lowest form of whale sht on the bottom of the ocean for spreading this nonsense. There is absolutely no plans to reduce hours across the board. If there was, I would know.

I think Walmart is dying, too. Home office is in shambles. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

By law, as long as you average 32 hours a week or more, they have to continue to offer health insurance, so at least that's good. Although if you get cut below 32 hours you can apply for partial unemployment (in most states).

Go ahead and work 40 hours. I make more I unemployment a week not working. Plus I get food stamps. I love filling my carts up and making you people slave away making less money than I do!

NO THEY CAN NOT FORCE YOU TO GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION. Maybe management but no they are not going to force hourly employees to other locations. They don’t even cover people when they call off now. 🤣🤣. Run the store bare bones and you think they are going to send employees to other stores to cover when they don’t even have coverage at their home store. You are funny. 🤣🤣

Employer reserves the right to assign staff where it deems appropriate. If you don’t like cold hard facts. Then QUIT!!!

No one is going to be “shipping” employees to another store when there are call offs. An employee can not be forced to go to another store if they don’t want to go and people are not items where they are “shipped”.

Deny all you want. Little do you know. My uncle is on the board of directors at corporate and he told me all about the plans to cut labor expenses and future plans to ship employees with “open days” to area stores to cover for call ins.

I don't think anyone has released any sensitive information. So to who ever is using scare tactics on the store lead who is only giving their opinion, you will never find out who anyone is on this site. And besides I work I walmart as well and this post is simply not true. Like the store lead said, they are not cutting hours to 32 for full time. Just more stupid rumors.

Store lead huh???? If I find out who you really are. I will make a call to the regional manager and have you charged for violation of company policies and disclosing sensitive company information. Then you will really be hitting the road elsewhere.

I work here at Walmart. This post is garbage! We're actually going to 40 hours across the board for FT. If your team's workload is caught up and there's nothing to do; laughable to me but I've heard people say that. Management will send your team to another area that needs help Once again, we aren't going down to 32 hours and at some point the minimum threshold for FT is moving to 40 from 32 unless you're PT or grandfathered in. I gage this post a red arrow; if there was a laughing reaction that's he one I wold have chosen.

As for warning me to get out while I can. And I will wish I was out when my hours get cut. I'm a Store Lead and obviously on salary. I just hate stupid rumors. Walmart is definitely not perfect, alot of changes I don't agree with but no company is perfect. Find one and I will follow you there tomorrow.

How is the team scheduling going to work? If someone already has their two days a week they are not available are they going to be able to keep those same days as well as availability?

Walmart is not dying. It’s surviving in an economy run by fools. Attacking traditional energy sources and forced min wages cost of living is going up. Way up.

Better believe it. Especially when the $15 hr minimum takes effect. You will be wishing you got out while you could before thi place cuts your benefits in HALF. I’m just warning you to get out while you can.

Once again this is all Bull c-ap. They are not going to 32 hours for full time. Do not believe it. Full time will get 40 hours with the new teaming structure. All full time has to work at least one weekend day so there for there days will be split unless they choose to have both their off days during the week. Don't believe these stupid rumors.

So if they go to 32 are they going to change the requirements? Everyone will lose their ft statues and insurance if they don’t maintain the 34 hr a week average.

If you hired BEFORE JAN 1, 2002, you have to Average 28 hours a week for 12 weeks to be FT.
If you hired JAN 1, 2002 FORWARD, you have to Average 34 hours a week for 12 weeks to be FT.

I thought with the new team schedules they are going to be doing that we would have a 40 hour work week? Which is it they are doing are they going to give us 40 or cut us to 32?

It's dying; the writing is on the wall. The floormat they are rolling out is the one they had when they first started decades ago.

Is that what FT is going to now? I thought we needed 34 to maintain our FT status.
