Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Less staff but the same work or more work?

For the past year, there are less staff in the digital services, but they do the work of 2 to 3 people for minimum wage as a contract employee. Is this the norm for Xerox in Canada?

The "Supervisors" at Xerox rarely interact with the temp staff. The manager is a temp staff who pressures unreasonable quotas on the remaining employees. Stay or leave?

If you put data entry on your resume i.e. inputting numeric characters into a database, expect the temp agency XRX manager to assume that you can not only type alphanumeric, but also print, package, get labels, and deliver the same amount of data entry quotas as you did in your data entry job.

Except that in the data entry job, you had your own computer, there were employees who did the lifting of boxes, transport and delivery of finished materials.

Pay is also higher than XRX, and they didn't deduct your wages like an employee while treating you as a temp. It's not worth the stress to be overworked and pressured while XRX old heads hold useless meetings all day and rarely assist the temp staff in their work. That is why they hire a temp manager to bully the temp staff to get work done, and when the clients come, they put up a facade of a great work environment.

I'm with a competitor. xerox HR in New Brunswick is cold calling industry reps to fill a sales position in Toronto. Its a tight industry. We all talk. Consensus is that xerox here is a total $hit show in free fall that no one wants a part of. Run by a sad ol' crew who were in their "prime?" when shoulder pads were big. They'll dangle promise of a big base salary and catch a post grad rube or desperate person who'll stay for 12 months max.

"The work of 2 or 3 people for minimum wage"

You're getting ripped off.

Best to work at Tim Horton's or a warehouse. Less stress and you get paid for the job of one person rather than 3 or 4 at Xerox.

Put in your two weeks and get another job. Your health will suffer at that company.

I can't tell you what to do in your situation but I can say that we're seeing the exact same thing in Xerox direct in the US. For the past 2 years it's been a steady decline in resources, but the amount of work has stayed the same. So all you can do is prioritize the emergency items and leave the rest - until they become emergency items.

Or leave the company. Which seems to be what a lot of people are doing.
