RVP's and Store Managers are all saying this does not work. This is a cost cutting measure from Sycamore. Especially in Intimate Apperal, Home Store, Ladies Shoes, they need a register and a dedicate sales associate to help customers.

It must depend on location. Our store could use every register and a couple more. But it's not working that way and customers are slowing diminishing.
centralized registers are step one in a multi step downsizing/lay-off plan for Belk.
I disagree because ever since I started working for Belk 3 years ago, I have said this store needs centralized check outs. Due to the lack of payroll & associates on the sales floor, it would be easier to direct customers to one checkout instead of sending them to 5 different registers hoping an associate is there or the line is not long. Our register in Intimate apparel was rarely used even before the pandemic with not enough hours to even cover that department. Other companies I have worked for with centralized check outs usually have someone in the department helping customers and then they get called for backup at the registers. Just my 2 cents.....
I can't agree more!
