It is their tactic, to convince people that they do not make any difference and that their work is not very valuable. I’ve been watching this in this company for years and I’m really sick of it.
Criticism, intimidation and micromanagement are on the rise.
It works in their favor the less confident we are and the more we think it is difficult to find something better. And it’s not actually that hard!

Corporate has been telling SM's (i am one ) for 2 years now to manage by fear and intimidation. When I said I get better results from using reason and understanding, I was told you either do as youre told or there is the door.
See, that’s the problem. Why isn’t this a “real job”. Why do we allow society, and these corporations, and each other, to perpetuate that stigma? Use it to demean us and keep paying us sh–?
I mean, my God, if the pandemic taught us anything, is that an essential worker outranks a CEO any day.
Criticism I can deal with .micromanagement I can deal with .don’t ever come at me with intimidation because then it becomes personal and that’s a whole new game you wanna play
I know of a former lowe’s DS, that left the company for that exact same reason. The person found a job with a company that does something similar. The person ended up making $20k more and hired 4 of his old stores top employees at over $20 an hour, M-F no hours after 6pm. The Lowe’s SM was upset at how this person “could do that”.

I believe the bullet points on the slide were; Criticism, Intimidation and Micromanagement.
Well the harsh reality is that you make very little, if any, difference. You are easily replaceable and therefore one step above useless. It’s like this in all job sectors. If you don’t like it, improve your skill set and get a real job.
