Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

News and layoffs

I have been wondering why only one news agency reported the layoffs (CTV). The numbers were significant in January and now but majority of news are not saying anything.

I don't believe in conspiracy but lately this does not make sense that news agencies are not reporting Cenovus or any other company layoffs. Two years ago they would report a small layoffs and all of the sudden majority is quite.

What 8s going on

News media is now entertainment and has nothing to do with reporting facts / events.

I just read a post here that I wanted to respond to but it is now removed. I can see any rule that the post violated. Why are posts being removed if rules have not been violated?

Typical day at News Media:

  1. Look at software program that delivers news from Canadian Press feed.
  2. Copy and paste news release and add local news organization logo

3, Publish.

  1. Read News releases on Air and then show youtube videos of cats
  2. Engage in mindless banter
  3. Show toilet paper commercial or Kurt browning reverse mortgage advertisement.

I just posted the message below the line below and it was removed within 1 minute. Why?

I noticed that all of my posts are now being deleted. I just responded to this thread about 30 minutes a go and now my response has been removed.

What rule have I violated? I would not be surprised if this post is also removed. Let us wait and I see because there is definitely nothing in this post that should warrant its being removed.

Add to the fact that it is only the dirty oil industry that is being decimated it is not news worthy.

Now if it was a wind mill factory, a solar cell manufacturing plant or maybe an electric car facility, that story is something people need to hear about.

It's not being reported because it's happened so many times that it's barely newsworthy. No conspiracy here.

You don't believe in conspiracies? Where have you been for the past year, something has happened to the Minstry of Truth (media) in that time. Seems to be extremely biased reporting, more so than normal, with complete omission of the other side of the story if it doesn't fit some agenda.

You have to draw the conclusion as to what the agenda may be, but I think we are all being kept safe and protected is part of it. Bad news about employment numbers seems to be lacking lately, which is strange since it is far worse than it has ever been in my life time. Maybe not enough minorities let go to make it news worthy, after all it's white collar workers and that is racist.

I noticed that as well. The reasons I may think of are:

  1. January being the first major mass layoff from the merger
  2. The layoffs are being done virtually, hence the news people do not see laid off employees trooping out of the building. I know that January was done virtually as well but being the first might have given it the attention and coverage it got and deserved.

Having said that, I don't think the reasons that I gave above are enough to justify why this round of layoffs is not being given coverage it deserves by the media though.
