Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Retirement anxiety

I have a lot of colleagues who literally envy me that I will retire soon, but from my perspective, I am not very happy. There were bad but also good moments here, but I never paid too much attention to what was going on around me because I really enjoyed doing my job. I’d rather not retire. I can’t imagine myself not being an employee here anymore.

Many don’t get a retirement or substantial one anyway. Some are many years and dreams away. Even in our later years to even comprehend what Retirememt really means.

You have lots to offer and may not have to worry bout as much as many others do. Enjoy it. Prayers

There is only ONE regret I have for retirement. I did not leave a job better than I found it. Something I was taught is dishonorable as a child. I left a job that at one time I was honored and proud to do early in my career. At the end of the career, the job I did turned into a process cookie cutter mentality with zero investigation nor analysis. I left feeling sorry for the youth.

Just remember they didn't give you retirement, you earned it! Walk with your chin high. Nothing you got from them was given. It was earned!

Remember this! Anxiety happens because of all thar corporate Kool Aid they pumped into your mind. It's like detoxing from he–in addiction. That's why you feel better after you make the choice to not accept their orwellean policies. Be nice and finally learn how it feels to have freedom of speech and freewill on their dime.

Find something to do with a purpose and you will never look back.

Join the club! I really enjoyed the first 30 years of my career. I enjoyed interacting with the customers and was very proud of what I did for them. I miss that part of the business. When I first retired, I had anxiety too worrying but quickly learned it was the best thing to do. It truly is fun getting up and doing the things you enjoy doing and at the same time being with my spouse. In retrospect, it was the best of times for State Farm. I can't say the way things are now I would recommend SF as a career. Sitting behind a desk, looking at a computer does not IMO give customers the service they pay for. They have literally taken humanity and common sense out of business. Customers are NOT numbers nor metrics.
