Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

I'm in constant fear of layoffs

Is anybody else constantly stressing over more layoffs? I was not like this before but after the past several years and all the cuts - small and large - we've had I just can't relax anymore. I'm no longer able to trust anything the ELT says. I'm in a constant state of stress and no matter what I do I can't let go of it. How do people deal with this (other than medicating?)

Fear causes irrational behavior. Stay focused and calm. The evil will always lose.

Nothing you can do, every company out there is trying as hard as possible to replace people with technology, which is why the constant is that theyll hire programmers endlessly but dont care about claim handlers.

Use it as a motivator to avoid becoming complacent - keep building new knowledge and skills. Therapy to learn new ways of coping with stress. It’s definitely easier mentally to not be located in central Illinois - many more employers in the hub locations if the next transition breaks bad.

Don't live in fear but use that as motivation. Trust me other opportunities are out there.

Have your resume updated every few months with new skills and take what your leadership say with a grain of dirt. They will tell you the reality of your department changes at the last possible minute.
