Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Imagine how things would have been at this point without merging with APC. I am guessing pretty sweet for Oxy folks right now.

Probably a healthy company weathering an intense storm. The only difference is you wouldn’t have to deal with self inflicted wounds at the same time.

As LAPC who took CoC, I don’t know if I would have been better with Chevron but I doubt it.

We were in a tite spot. Several years selling properties, pipes, fields, laying off people to pay the dividend. Not enough balls to trim the dividend but bigger pants to screw things up big time. Go big Go home. Don't blame the pandemic. A decision was made here. Cloud everything for a few years while buying time in the most expensive way. Change the scheme, from Ponzi shale to Green CCUS made it less difficult for investors to understand why we should trust them one more time

I wouldn’t have been able to load up so much $10 stock. Reaping the rewards of buying low! Love it.

Would have been even sweeter for APC people - We were taken over by a bunch of misfits

I'd still have a job! But then I'd have had to continue working in a toxic work culture.... at least no more golden handcuffs.

Got that right - biggest destruction of shareholder wealth in company history by far (~100x Love Canal).
