I understand the talented people who have left, but I do not understand the talented young people who are still here. I know two much younger employees whose talent holds great promise and who would certainly do great things in another company, but they are still here. I was about the same age as them when I first came here and I wasn’t even half as enthusiastic as them. I am very sorry to see such fantastic young people's talent being wasted here.

The fear mongering from company lifers that usually goes like: “you are lucky to even have a job right now” or “you aren’t going to find benefits like this anywhere else” or “The quality of life here is great. Where else can you do x, y, and z?”
I understand the fear though. If they have only worked at one place for the last few decades, I’m sure the familiarity brings comfort. But there is no need to project that on people who haven’t been indoctrinated. All it does is squelch their waning enthusiasm a couple years in.
If their skill set is in Oil and Gas, then pretty much every company of size treats their folks in the same way. You just need to peruse layoffs.com to see that
