If you are laid off because the store is closed then tell the prospective employer “The Store Closed.” Do not say you were laid off. You will get much more empathy from the prospective employer when you say “The Store Closed.” Laid off can be vague and encompass many reasons but “The Store Closed” is permanent and completely out of your control. Good luck.

Huge No No.
you were let go because the store closed. You are not laid off if theres no chance of coming back.Laid off means you may be called back.. HR departments and who ever else may be interviewing know layoffs cover a wide range of reasons. They dont hire because of empathy.
