Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Too many managers, too few leaders

I find that this is one of major issues with the farm. They need down to earth real leadership. Leadership that can understand outside of work people have lives. Leaders who can motivate versus just sounding good.

Exactly my point. Whoever wrote this, I totally agree. There is no place with more managers and fewer leaders anywhere on the planet.

Most of them are pencil pushers just keeping a desk warm.

In order to be an effective leader, a person cannot be a sheep who thinks it is all about me, is a "player" and has to "fit in." Unfortunately, SF is a breeding ground for players who fit in, only think of themselves and drink excessive amounts of corporate Kool Aid. I refer to them as corporate cowboys who couldn't last one day doing ranch work. They are so far removed from reality, I consider their thoughts and actions are delusional. Their rhetoric is not to believed.

People that can talk about how a car operates and have never turned a wrench. A pretty car without a motor goes nowhere.

Worst part of it is, they can all talk about it but doing it they can't! Nepotism and political actors is their perfection. Too many don't do as I do, do as I say.

Digital has too many for sure. Too good and important to do real work calling it “leadership”

They are politicians who rely on image. They are good at taking but not a giving. They have lost focus on their mission and vision statement by not being inclusive to other thoughts and/or opinions. Yes high school mentality is best to describe their group think philosophies.

That has been an issue at SF for decades. The place is just simply poorly managed. In ET we have Product Managers making industry product manager money and all they do is go to useless meetings and handle HR tasks. Don’t ask them for a roadmap. They’ll have to google roadmap to find out what it is. Insane!
