When a store closes and there are other nearby stores staying open, does the company transfer employees to nearby stores?

One store closed near by and we are getting the runoff of part timers that are taking positions in our store as soft side and hard side associates that have no clue how to use JDA, the scanner and The Beyond Store. They don’t know how to check inventory or a pog location. These associates have only been with BBB for maybe less than a year. Now that they have been transferred they have to be retrained on everything.
In the store I work every full time and management let go. Part time got transfer offers.
Managers are usually transferred to Larger regional locations.
Part Timers are usually given an option to pick up hours at a nearby store...but nothings guaranteed.
Any regular Full Time workers: most are out of luck. But that depends if a nearby store need help. Usually not lately though.
If it's anything like promotions, it all depends who you sleep with, at least in our area.
Depends on the season, the volume of the stores around you and if they struggle to get staff. Also depending on your pay scale. Some people are getting a pay cut for their “new role” In Other stores.
Not in our store, but sister store everyone was offered a transfer
