Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Retail is changing!

All this change people are complaining about is a company trying to figure out how to compete and evolve with the customers new ways of shopping. Brick and Mortar stores will change as well. We will see some low profit stores close to customers but transform into fulfillment centers or hubs that ship/deliver to home. Who knows what happens in the end but it’s definitely an interesting race.

I’ve read several post and comments from people complaining about bad managers that sit in the office and ignore problems. Well folks that’s partially because of the fast growth within the company , people get promoted because they are willing to learn not always because they are ready . Think about your own career with the company . When someone gave you a supervisor spot .. Were you ready , or just willing to try ?! These structure changes are going to flatten this back out and empower the people that do the work anyway. Less managers will help eliminate some of these problems that have been brought up on this site. It will allow the company to move faster and continue to compete with Amazon.

Anytime a company cuts as many positions as Walmart has, it’s a sign of receding. Retail hasn’t changed, their competition has. They are no longer number one.

Being brainwashed into thinking it's retail changing. No, they are trying to find ways to cut the impact of what Amazon has done to them.

The store reflects how awful these changes are; it’s not a positive. I'm glad you are on board with it all. Then again you have to as long as you stay there.

Walmart is not making changes to compete. They are making changes because they are getting their a** handed to them. They are losing and receding.

Good Post. People like to complain and seldom see the pressure that other's face, or that change in any business is a positive move forward. Otherwise in retail, you will be left behind and forgotten.

I spent 10 years at Walmart, The Home Office to be precise. From my experience, you had to do the job above you for 3-5 years before they even considered promoting you to that role/position. Walmart didn't have to pay you for that job title you performed all that time until you were finally, if ever, promoted into it.
