Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Did you work harder after each survival?

I’ve survived many rounds of layoffs here and I’ve noticed that every time I survive a layoff I work a lot harder. But now it's getting to a point where my performance is starting to drop off because I’m not that young anymore and I'm afraid I may not be able to survive the next one. Fear management, that’s Allstate.

NO, why break my back for a company that has let hardworking qualified people go in some cases? The company actions reinforce that we are disposable no matter how many hours a day we put in! Do the bare minimum and save your sanity there’s no job security here. And they sure as hell don’t reward you during yearly reviews! Play the game like TW and GS smile to their faces and stab them in the back. 😊

No I did not work harder, why? I’ve went through 2 mass layoffs myself. I guess I figure they will layoff you whether you work hard or do bare minimum to get by.

Usually increased workloads after mass layoffs with a pledge from everyone to work mediocre is a type of job security. In most cases mass layoffs are found to be mistakes for short term gain.

But the game with Allstate is changed when you have complete buffoonery and incompetence running the show AND you have thousands of Patels ready to do the work happily for $6 and hour and no PTO or health benefits.

What kind of r—d works harder after mass layoffs? There's less people, it's not like they can afford to fire you on a dime. Work mediocre.

All these animals have done is turned a tenured annual better that expected employee into one that does the bare minimum. Last year's layoffs were the tipping point for me. And it wasn't the layoffs themselves. I get it, business is business. It was how it was done. It was the timing in the middle of the pandemic and their own saying that it wasn't an immediate financial need. It was the arrogant, crass, demeaning attitude and handling by the powers that be that did it for me. The fake "cover your a__" assessments which weren't even used. The gall of defiantly allowing access to assessment results. The lack or transparancy. The constant lying. The purposeful beating down and ruining of morale. That is what turned me around.

But I survived. But I did some self Transformative Growth. Bare minimum from here on out. I don't care one bit about my job, the customers, or what Allstate wants or thinks. If they just keep paying me then they are fools. But I'll take their money while at the same time doing what I can to move customers in another direction and lowering Tom and Glenn's bottom line penny by penny. There is nothing that this company can do to redeem themselves in my eyes short of relieving Tom and Glenn and a few other head honchos from their positions. And even then they need to mass apologize and right the wrongs of these two evil beings.

Agree whole heartedly. Such a horrible situation we are all in. They have no compassion whatsoever. No matter how many times they say “thank you”, it doesn’t make up for any of the pain they’ve intentionally inflicted on staff, whether former or current employees. As soon as possible people will be leaving for better jobs. Then Allstate will have won and can ship more jobs to India. Terrible for the people who have more than 3 years in to this hole. Get out ASAP before you are abused any longer.
