Thread regarding Hitachi Vantara layoffs

Building a career in the HV?

I was full of enthusiasm when I came here and I wanted to progress quickly and acquire new skills. However, all my efforts were thwarted, I was often in a situation where others took credit for my work and I did not have many opportunities to prove myself.
This was also my first job and I can’t wait to move to another company to see what the situation is there and see if the problem was in me or in HV.

That last rant I can only respond with a Whoopi, “Ok”.

Stop whining... Know this truth, truth sets you free.

  • You are old, have no degree, degree from a non US school or qualified for the job.
  • Because of above, you are referred to HV by an agency that only exist because of people like you.
  • You joined because your friend or co-worker hired you and offered huge starting salary + bonus for which you are not qualified/deserve otherwise.
  • After many years working for managers/executives who were just like you and hired just like you, you realize that all the technical experty comes from age old Japan, you are just an MTM ( Member of Technical Marketing).
  • Because of constant layoff or the demise of the executives who hired you, you realized that you are on a shaky ground. Experience in an age old technology making you panic.
  • Just know, Technically, you will never be able to compete outside like your friends because unlike you they do "Walk da Walk, not just the Talk".
  • For you, The only way to make more money, raise and bonus in HV is to node your head and say "YES" to your higher up no matter how stupid you think the outcome is.

or
Just pray someday Japan will hire some dashing young smart, ruthless, intelligent, well qualified (comp. storage literate), well deserving Millennial CEO who carry this lovely company forward to the 22nd century and release you and others for good. which will never happen :-).

So, don't worry be happy

People, this company has you all brainwashed thinking that your are all worthless and working for a creditable company. They don’t want you know your real potential and to be thankful for that meager paycheck. There are plenty of companies looking for people and you will be surprised of how underpaid you are working at Hitachi Vantara. There is no future with this company nor will there be opportunities to grow. Don’t walk out the door. Run like hell.

This quarter has been dreadful. Bonus payment will be c-ap. I can see many people leave soon as VIP is declared.

I doubt it that the company will be gone by April 1st. The chance for "Those talented employees move on .." is more likely to happen.

Then the management will get more compensation ;)

"The company will be gone by April 1st". That's a pretty extraordinary statement, even for this forum. What makes you think that?

" .... others took credit for my work and I did not have many opportunities to prove myself. "

This is the problem with this company. The person who did all the work never get credits, promotions or recognized. Others who jump on the band-wagon would claimed they did all the work. The management would reward themselves with big bonus for the job well done (by other talented employees!!!)
