What do you think about giving away our tax dollars to people who don’t need it. The big question is if someone makes 69,000 dollars per year and has 500,000 in the bank should they get any stimulus. What if they are retired, make 60,000 dollars per year and have 5 million in investments. Do they deserve it? This is a poorly executed plan that just gives away my tax dollars to many who don’t need it. The previous administration did this too so it is not just the current administration. So many who don’t need it don’t spend it so it doesn’t stimulate the economy. Let’s end these types of programs after this round. Someone should start a charity to give their stimulus check away if they don’t need it. Many people could be fed and clothed with this money who really need it.
Let’s not get to a net worth criteria on anything the government administers. Their greedy little hands would reach down to ordinary people. Not just the dems but the republicans would do this to.

There are many people out there who only care about themselves and not society as a whole. Attitudes like I pay taxes so why shouldn’t I get some back just like the poor unfortunate families impacted by covid are getting. I used to be like that and now I have more empathy. No I am neither a far left person or a religious person.
Let's see if I understand the conversation: Bob - "Should the government give tax payer funds to people that may not need them?" Sally - "You must be a boomer." Bob - "Can we just discuss the pros and cons of the policy?" Sally - "You listen to Fox News, right?"
If another welfare program outside of stimulus is implemented then of course they should get the support that that are due.
I didn’t know this page became a place for boomers to spread Fox News propaganda. Poor boomer
@ljp+19Kg8EAW Just because you got lucky and landed a job in OXY making lots of money does not make others "low achieving" or losers. But for sure your comment shows your arrogance and ignorance. I agree there are issues with the bills and I am not in support of giving a check to somebody who does not need it but I am in total support of the government helping people who are not as lucky as us.
Quite a few retired people if they are tax efficient.
How many people do you think there are that make $60k/yr and have a portfolio worth $5 million? The premise of your hypothetical is completely unreasonable.
And 100% of kindergarteners support all-day recess.
Okay, Boomer.
I guess if you can’t understand the message than you really should get the money because you won’t make it on your own.
Are you implying that people who make under 70,000 don't pay taxes? Thats their tax money too. Why shouldn't they get some back?
All of this money are you talking about comes from the taxes of hard working people and corporations that employee people. It should not be handed out so sloppily. There are many people whose income hasn’t changed since the pandemic started but they are still getting stimulus just because they are low income. This is all about the dems rewarding their low achieving constituents.
