Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

What do you pay the most attention to when looking for a new job?

I am safe for now but am considering job offers. Honestly, I came to Cenovus when I was much younger and back then paycheck was the only thing important to me. After several years here, in addition to paycheck, I pay more attention to other things, and I'm starting to think about retirement. I would like to avoid everything that was wrong here.

There are so many professionals who were let go in March 2020 and still can not find any job.

I think you will be somewhat surprised when you get layed off and start looking for work.
There are a few jobs available in Calgary. Very few in Oil and Gas. If you use the job bank websites you will find that the majority of jobs advertised there are already taken. There are lots of jobs driving forklifts and doing shipping and receiving. The unemployment rate is north of 12% in Calgary. I suggest all Cenovus and Husky employees that get let go obtain their forklift driver training right away so you can get back to work quickly in Calgary's only growing industry, warehousing.

I still have my job and I am interviewing with another company. There are more jobs opening up with the uptick in oil. Maybe there is life after this cesspool of politics. At least I hope as I’m in the early interview stages.
